5 Steps To Your Burlesque Photo Shoot

Are you ready for your burlesque experience yet? You could’ve had an amazing surprise from a friend or partner, presented with a pass to our luxury studio for a day of complete indulgence. Or you might’ve come across us yourself and thought: ‘Yes, this is what I need right now to feel like a queen once again…”

Either way, a burlesque photo session is close enough that your nerves are spiking with excitement. Andrew Wood Photography has a clear plan of action to get you here, prepared and ready to shine:

Step 1. Choose – morning or afternoon

First off, we need a definite date from you so we can lay everything out as it should be. The shoot itself will take a good few hours, as we give you a burlesque makeover and ease you into character in our studio. Set a whole morning or afternoon aside for our visual artists to work their magic. Trust us: once you’re in the mood, you’ll find it hard to stop!

Step 2. Look out for your confirmation

When you’re booked in, we’ll send a confirmation email and text, along with lots of helpful information on where to find us and how to prepare for the experience. Save our number in your phone, as we’ll be sending a few more handy tips in the run up to your big day!

Step 3. Do a little inspirational research

Burlesque is a sexy and varied theme; many cultures, eras and famous dancers have put their own twist on it, so you might want to scout around online for a style that suits you. Indulge your curiosity in props, accessories and how you want to use your body. Take a glance at our gallery to see what we’ve done with other clients.

Step 4. Hit the shops!

Now the real prep begins! Set a budget (this is a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ event after all) and visit your local high street, armed with an exact idea of the look you want. Corsets, stockings and tassels all fall into the burlesque bracket, and you’ll find plenty of retailers that can kit you out for the shoot.

Step 5. Keep in touch…

To ensure you’re ready for your photo shoot, we’ll request a final confirmation via text a couple of days beforehand. This is also the perfect opportunity to ring us with any questions or special requests you might have; someone from our team is always just a phone call away!

Hopefully you’re now a bit more aware of what to expect from your experience with Andrew Wood Photography. We’re committed to making your burlesque photo shoot as simple and straightforward as possible, but it’s helpful if you follow these steps to prepare for your visit well in advance. And of course, if you have any questions in the build-up to your shoot, don’t be afraid to ask

Andrew Wood

"Company Director / Owner" I am passionate about my family and my photography! With having had four children in less than three years, I am certainly experienced in the rigours of family life. I think that enables me to create a warm, welcoming and relaxed environment where children, adults and the whole family can have fun enjoying each other’s company, while we capture natural images. At weekends, I enjoy playing the piano and guitar, cycling in the countryside around Manchester and going on hill walking holidays.
